The SLO Downtown Association recently awarded honors to nearly two-dozen businesses at its 27th Annual Beautification Awards Social.
The awards are given to those businesses that made physical or aesthetic improvements toward keeping downtown beautiful in the 2015 calendar year.
The Downtown Association’s Design Committee oversaw the process from selecting the candidates to presenting the awards in categories including New Construction, Tenant Improvements, Merchandising and several special awards. SLO Downtown Association Beautification Awards Committee chair Marshall Ochylski emceed the ceremony and presented a slide show while announcing the winners.
Committee members Landy Fike, Ryan Brockett, Karen Kile, Dominic Tartaglia and Brent Vanderhoof assisted Ochylski in jurying the candidates and categorizing the awards.
Top honors include the prestigious Mayor’s Award, this year given to The Townhomes at Old Church Place and the Chairperson’s Award given to Bill Roalman Bike Boulevard Expansion, at the intersection of Morro and Pacific streets.
The social was made possible by the product and service contributions of various local donors including the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, Chamisal Vineyards, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Splash Cafe Seafood & Grill and Bill Gaines Audio.
