After raising a total of $1,660.88 for Transitions-Mental Health Association in September and October, SLO’s only community-owned grocery store has set its sights on giving back to local nonprofit RISE. The nonprofit works to provide crisis intervention and treatment services to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence and their loved ones.

This effort is part of the Co-op’s 2% Tuesday Program, designed to give back 2% of each Tuesday’s total sales to a worthy community-chosen nonprofit.

“Our 2% Tuesdays program is really special because our shoppers are able to choose the next nonprofit we’ll be supporting through a really engaging voting process,” said SLO Food Co-op Communications Coordinator Kasey Main. “As we continue to see our shoppers show up on Tuesdays in record numbers, it’s both encouraging and energizing to see that we’ve been able to consistently meet and exceed our goal of $1,500 donated to each recipient.”
