SLO LOCThe Latino Outreach Council (LOC) of San Luis Obispo County will host a forum for people who would like to receive an update and review from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on their Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewal application. It will also provide information on applying for citizenship. The free event will be held in the San Luis Obispo County Government Center in SLO on Wednesday Sept. 24, 2014 at 6 p.m.

USCIS will give a presentation and host a question and answer session on the DACA renewal process. Following that presentation, USCIS officials will then present information on filling out the new, longer version N-400 form for the naturalization process.

Local resources for students who need help with their applications will be available at no cost from the Cal Poly Rise Program.

The evening’s program will be hosted by LOC President Jacqueline del Valle Vitti Frederick. “Our program will bring together federal and community resources to help the undocumented young people who have come to this country to pursue their education or to serve in the military, a way to legally stay in this country and work with a special permit,” says Frederick. This forum is intended for applicants, as well as employers and educators who want to learn about the ability of young immigrants to obtain legal status, and of the naturalization process.

The evening will start with a social time at 5:30 p.m. followed by the forum at 6 p.m.
