The SLO LITTLE THEATRE will un-wrap a double feature of holiday hilarity this December when they present their third annual production of the family holiday classic A Christmas Story along with the fourth annual production of David Sedaris’s more adult version of holiday cheer, The Santaland Diaries, featuring Kevin Harris as Crumpet the Elf. A Christmas Story runs December 3-23 with performances on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. The Santaland Diaries runs December 9-17 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 11 at 7 p.m. All performances take place at the SLO Little Theatre, 888 Morro Street in San Luis Obispo. Based on the 1983 motion picture, A Christmas Story is a festive and fun-filled holiday extravaganza. Jean Shepherd’s hilarious memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his Christmas quest for a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas despite warnings that he’ll “shoot his eye out!” A Christmas Story is directed by Kevin Harris and features the talents of Daniel Freeman, Phineas Peters, Felicia Hall, Mike Mesker, Coen Carlberg, Erin Parsons, Evan Clausen, Drew VanderWeele, Edan Seaton, Sophia Lea and Eliot Peters.
Kevin Harris will also star in The Santaland Diaries, a remarkable one-man show based on the true chronicles of David Sedaris’s experiences as Crumpet the Elf in Macy’s Santaland display. This cult classic riffs on a few of Sedaris’ truly odd encounters with his fellow man during the height of the holiday crunch. David Sedaris is a well-known NPR humorist and a best-selling author. His tongue-in-cheek style will bring just the right amount of “salty” after the “sweet” Christmas family fun of A Christmas Story. The show is directed by Suzy Newman.
