Adults are encouraged to get a free and easy skin cancer screening at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center on May 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Save a loved one’s life or, save your own,” Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center said in a statement to SLO Chamber.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that it doesn’t affect them or that skin cancer won’t affect their lives, but published, peer-reviewed research makes it clear that it will affect someone in every person’s social circle:

1. One American dies of melanoma almost every hour;

2. Even if no one in a household doesn’t develop skin cancer, the odds are strong that someone next door will (1 in 5);

3. Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old.

4. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States according to the Journal of Preventive Medicine.

The screenings at this event are available to the public and you do not need to be a patient of Tenet Health to attend. Also, no insurance is necessary as the event is free.

Everyone is encouraged to schedule your appointment today before space runs out!

Due to limited space, appointments are required. Call 855-916-0219 or visit TenetHealthCentralCoast.com/events.
