The City of San Luis Obispo will be expanding the Box Art Program to the remaining blank city-owned traffic signal utility boxes and want the community’s help in selecting the next box locations to be painted.
The City is launching a unique public engagement “voting” opportunity as a way to seek the community’s input in prioritizing the next boxes for future painting phases.
The vote for the box art public engagement opportunity will utilize “VOTE FOR ME” signage on the remaining 31 blank traffic signal box locations. The number of votes a box receives will be used to develop a priority list for the remaining blank city traffic signal boxes to be painted.
Go the the City’s website for public art to register your votes. (or go to: http://arcg.is/29vH6i2 )
Voting will close on August 18th, 2016.
It is anticipated that the painting of these new utility boxes could occur in phases over the next three to seven years, as public art funding is available.
