On Tuesday Sept. 23 the SLO Chamber hosted the three mayoral and five city council candidates for a Meet the Candidates Legislative Lunch. It presented our members the opportunity to get to know and further understand each candidate as well as offer an opportunity to get answers to the questions that matter to them.
The question and answer format provided the chance to hear directly from the candidates on subjects such as the business climate in San Luis Obispo, fiscal sustainability efforts by the city, balancing neighborhood wellness with Cal Poly’s expected growth, airport safety zones and thoughts on improving workforce housing and growing head-of-household jobs.
Candidates running in the November 4 election include mayoral incumbent Jan Marx running against Don Hedrick and Jeffrey Specht and those vying for two city council seats include incumbent Carlyn Christianson, Daniel Cano, Michael Clark, Gordon Mullin and Dan Rivoire.
