The members of the Pet Peace of Mind volunteer group know first-hand that a dog is even more than a man’s best friend; they offer comfort, companionship, consolation and peace. Pet Peace of Mind at Hospice SLO is recruiting volunteers to help care for beloved pets when their owners are not able to, especially during times of life-limiting illness. Pet Peace of Mind volunteer training will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hospice SLO.

Pet Peace of Mind at Hospice SLO began as a way to acknowledge the importance of the human-animal bond to those experiencing an illness or nearing the end of life. The all-volunteer service allows a client and their family to keep their pet during all life stages without worrying about their pet’s needs. Trained volunteers assist with everyday pet care tasks, such as exercise and feeding, but also provide foster and adoptive services when a client can no longer keep their pet.
