On April 7th, runners from around the world joined together to make the second SLO Marathon and Half a success. The 26.2-mile SLO Marathon began at San Luis Obispo High School, winding around the City of San Luis Obispo before wrapping up at the historic Madonna Inn.
San Luis Sports Therapy was there to provide support and aide to the more than 5,000 runners who participated. Two volunteer stations offered free massage therapy and physical therapy care with foam rolling, stretching and “Game Ready” cold compression stations.
At one station, massage therapy was provided by nine local Central Coast masseuse volunteers. Paula Wood, massage practitioner from SLO Wellness Center, was pleased to offer her services and committed her day to helping those in need.
At a second station, volunteers from the local San Luis Sports Therapy clinics helped ice, stretch and treat injuries to help accelerate recovery. One popular area was the “Game Ready” station which many believe is an invaluable workout recovery. This innovative technology delivers active cold and compression therapy in a portable system to help speed healing and recovery.
