The Woods Humane Society Board of Directors announced that Neil Trent has been selected as the organization’s new chief executive officer. Trent will assume the new role on May 1, 2019.
Trent joins Woods Humane Society with over 30 years of experience in the animal welfare field. He has served as executive director for the Humane Society International, Marin Humane Society, Longmont Humane Society, Animal Welfare League of Arlington, and most recently the Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA.
“Woods Humane Society’s Board of Directors and professional staff are truly pleased to welcome Mr. Trent to our team,” said Charlene Rosales, President of the Board. “Following a nationwide search, he was identified early on as a standout with a background in animal welfare spanning over 30 years, demonstrated leadership with global organizations and a collaborative spirit that will strategically take Woods to the next level. His passion and depth of experience will serve the needs of our organization well as we continue to offer new, mission-driven programs to the community and an even more significant presence in northern San Luis Obispo County. We know he will continue to build upon the outstanding success of Woods in further celebrating the human- animal bond.”
Trent succeeds Jill Tucker, who has moved on to lead Cal Animals – a state level animal welfare organization, dedicated to enhancing the animal welfare industry throughout California. Cal Animals was formed in 2018 through a merger between California’s two statewide animal- welfare associations: California Animal Control Directors Association and State Humane Association of California.
“Woods Humane Society is a very impressive organization with a stellar reputation in the national animal sheltering community. The board, staff and volunteers comprise a compassionate and dedicated team that provides exemplary services to their constituents. I consider myself very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to join this team and to use my experience and skillset to continue the growth of the organization and to improving the lives of even more animals,” states incoming Woods Humane Society CEO Neil Trent.
Woods Humane Society is in a strong position with exceptional programs and broad-based community support. As an organization and a community, Woods welcomes Neil Trent to the central coast.
