Woods Humane Society has increased spay and neuter capacity at the shelter’s San Luis Obispo clinic to provide additional surgery appointments for central coast dogs and cats. Taken in more than 900 kittens last year, Woods is strongly urging residents to help ensure that all cats are spayed or neutered as soon as possible. Breeding season has already begun! To help curb this serious problem, Woods has dramatically increased the number of cat spay/neuter appointments available to the public.

Owned cats can be spayed or neutered at either Woods location for only $50. Provided that special donated funds are available, trapped feral or community cats can receive their sterilization, rabies vaccine, and ear tip for only $25. The shelter has also expanded the surgery schedule for dogs. Appointments are made online at spayslocounty.org for both San Luis Obispo and Atascadero clinics.

Spaying and neutering directly saves lives, and Woods Humane Society urges community to spread the word to help reduce companion animal overpopulation throughout San Luis Obispo County. Additionally, altering your animal will help your pet live a longer healthier life, reduce roaming, positively impact behavior and reduce veterinary costs.
