e-InsiderWorld of Pinot Noir (WOPN) – one of the leading wine gatherings for pinot noir in the country and a key event that attracted many visitors to the county – will hold its 14th annual event at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Goleta. The move south from Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa and Cliffs Resort was driven in part because some of the event’s key vendors and attendees had dwindled in recent years, according to insiders. It is hoped that the move will attract more participants from the Los Angeles market to continue to grow the two-day event which draws between 1,600 to 1,800 attendees. The decision to move WOPN was unanimous with the event’s board of directors who are all pinot noir wine makers from both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. The new Santa Barbara County destination has not been deemed a permanent location for the event which includes tasting seminars, excursions and a grand wine tasting.
