In just its third year of operations, 101 Wine Tours has received their second Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence. The accolade is bestowed on select local businesses that receive consistently high reviews from the trusted online community; it comes on the heels of a recent fleet expansion and additional wine industry certifications acquired by owner Laura Jeffrey.
With the prestigious recognition, 101 Wine Tours solidifies its place as the California Central Coast’s premier touring company. The company has transported hundreds of satisfied clients to dozens of wineries, breweries, and olive oil producers in the region.
“The difference is education,” Jeffrey said. “When I started 101 Wine Tours, I didn’t just want to shuttle guests from winery to winery—I wanted to educate them about wine and what makes the Central Coast special as a wine-producing region.”
Jeffrey insists that their approach leads to a moment of discovery for her clients more often than not. Jeffrey said, “When a guest tells me something like, ‘I didn’t think you’d find a pinot noir I like,’ or ‘I’d never heard of that varietal, but now it’s my favorite,’ I know that I did my job right.”
In the years since receiving their first Certificate of Excellence, Jeffrey has achieved recognitions by the Court of Sommeliers as a Certified Sommelier and a Level 2 certification with distinction from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). These certifications demonstrate Jeffrey’s knowledge of wine, spirits, and hospitality. She uses her knowledge to ensure that each tour is tailor-made to the preference of her clients.
In addition to two Mercedes Sprinter buses, of which one is an airstream model with a luxurious interior, 101 Wine Tours recently added a 14 passenger van to its fleet. This new van is ideal for larger groups like offices, bachelorette parties and family gatherings. All of the vehicles offer large windows for panoramic views of wine country and climate control for a comfortable ride. Jeffrey ensures that no matter how large or small a group is, they’ll enjoy a fun and informative day at some of the best wineries California has to offer.
