The restaurateur behind Ciopinot is working on another eatery project set to open next spring. Leonard and Wendy Cohen are finalizing building plans and working on a menu for a new taqueria to take shape in The Creamery, behind Ciopinot. The yet-to-be-named taqueria will feature a menu chock-a-block with cooked-to-order high quality meats and fresh local red snapper, including al pastor on a rotisserie, and all of this alongside a full bar stocked with liquors infused onsite, bottled Mexican beer and a host of local craft beer on tap. If that’s not enough to entice, insiders report the creation of a hamburger wrapped in a quesadilla. Just up that street on Monterey Bello Mundo CafĂ©, currently located at 980 Monterey St., will be relocating later this fall to the space that was ever so briefly home to Wet Seal. Insiders report that the new space will feature an expanded kitchen, bar and WiFi while maintaining the signature feel complete with exposed brick and reclaimed wood. Following the move, Humankind Fair Trade will be expanding to fill Bello Mundo’s space in September, nearly doubling their retail footprint.
