San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre’s Academy of Creative Theatre (ACT) is now accepting registrations for its Fall 2020 Theatre Classes. Underwritten by a generous challenge grant provided by The MOCA Foundation, ACT’s class curriculum has been completely revised and reimagined in this unprecedented time in order to be socially-distant and safe per state and county standards for Covid-19.
Taught by professional teaching artists who are passionate and skilled at working with young performers, classes are designed for all ages and experience levels and take place in a lively, nurturing and FUN environment. Thanks to a grant from the Janssen Youth & Youth Sports Fund, held at The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County, generous tuition scholarships are available so that every child with a desire to learn can participate. Additional support for ACT has been provided by the Central Coast Funds for Children. The first session of classes begin on September 14th and are held two times a week through October 8th. - Acting/Scene Study (ages 13+): Mondays/Wednesdays, 4:15-6:15pm. $425.
This class is designed for our advanced students who are ready to take their acting skills to the next level. Students will have the opportunity to work on comedic and dramatic monologues, scene work and audition skills and will receive feedback from a panel of SLO REP instructors and directors.
- Introduction to Technical Theatre (ages 13+): Tuesdays/Thursdays, 4:15-6:15pm. $425
This class is designed for teens who are interested in the backstage world of theatre. We’ll introduce students to the various roles in technical theatre and what they do, and then we’ll dive more fully into the responsibilities and tools used by Stage Managers and Scenic, Lighting and Costume Designers.
