A new coffee shop located on the base at Camp San Luis Obispo is now open, serving breakfast, lunch and coffee. Cup of Joe Café opens Monday – Friday from 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. “serving our troops, trainees, base personnel and visitors with a smile”. Stop in for a savory caramel macchiato or a satisfying chipotle turkey sandwich, dressed with a signature chipotle sauce.
On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10 a.m., representatives from Senator Salud Carbajal’s, Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham’s, Supervisors Debbie Arnold’s and John Peschong’s offices attended the grand opening of Cup of Joe Café along with our local Sheriff’s department. Supervisor Debbie Arnold’s office presented Achievement House with a certificate of recognition.
Achievement House is a nonprofit vocational training program serving adults with intellectual and physical disabilities since 1957. At Cup of Joe Café, individuals learn the skills to work in the service industry from food prep, customer service, to cash handling. The Achievement House Programs prepare individuals for employment opportunities within the larger San Luis Obispo community.
For over 60 years Camp San Luis Obispo and Achievement House have worked together to provide training opportunities including janitorial, grounds maintenance and food services.
