Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County has been selected as the Featured Nonprofit on Sunday, August 25th, for the Arroyo Grande Summer Concert Series.
The Concert Series in its 14th year, holds concerts on two Sundays each month from June through early September. The Village Concert Series features one local nonprofit organization for each concert.
Proceeds from the concert’s raffle ticket sales will benefit Assistance League and specifically, its Operation School Bell® program, which provides new school-appropriate clothing to students in need, grades K-12, in all ten school districts within San Luis Obispo County.
The goal of Operation School Bell for this school year, 2019-20, is to provide new school clothing to 2,000 disadvantaged students which is one in seven of the county’s students who are living in poverty. “Our chapter and its member volunteers are greatly appreciative of the support and partnership from the Arroyo Grande Summer Concert Series in recognition of the important work we are doing to assist students and their families within our local communities,” said Helen Robertson, chapter president.
The public is encouraged to join Assistance League and the Summer Concert Series for a fun afternoon, featuring “The James Way Band – a Tribute to the Bakersfield Sound.” There will be great music with food, drinks, beer, wine an ice cream available for sale.
Assistance League is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization with no paid staff dedicated to fostering academic success by boosting self-esteem and improving the lives of students in the county. To date, Assistance League has provided new school clothing to more than 28,000 students throughout its 24-year history.
