Cal Poly’s Polyrhythmics Percussion Recital
This year’s percussion ensemble concert will include new works that combine African polyrhythmic drumming with American minimalism to create a kaleidoscope of rhythm and color. Also featured will be Daniel Levitan's charming “Marimba Quartet.” The concert will conclude with Sven-David Sandström's massive and virtuosic powerhouse, the rarely performed, and appropriately titled, “Drums.” The ensemble is directed by music faculty member John Astaire.
