The French Hospital Medical Center Foundation is proud to announce the generous donation of $150,000 made by the Steed Family to support the Copeland Health Education Pavilion at French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC). In recognition of this gift, the Executive Board Room in the Pavilion will be named in their honor.
Aaron, Erin and Evan Steed, owners of Meathead Movers, were impressed by the technology available in the Pavilion and the commitment to advanced education and research to benefit the community.
Located on the FHMC campus adjacent the hospital, the three-story, 18,000 square foot facility includes two classrooms, boardroom, Idea Incubator Lab and two advanced learning facilities: The Institute for Health Education and Research in partnership with Cal Poly, and the James R. Flanagan Simulation Learning Center. The Pavilion also includes an educational auditorium that can accommodate a standing room capacity of 214. Every aspect of the pavilion is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology and features to advance health care education for our community and staff.
The pavilion also provides a variety of preventive health education classes to the community through a new Community Wellness Program, all free of charge.
“We believe it is important to invest in health care resources that will continue to enhance our community’s health and wellness. We are honored to be a part of the transformation occurring at French Hospital with this new innovative facility,” says Meathead Movers President and CEO Aaron Steed.
Erin Steed is currently an active FHMC Foundation board member and co-chair of the annual Celebration of Caring Gala.
“On behalf of French Hospital, we are pleased to accept this very generous donation and greatly appreciate the support and friendship of the Steed Family and Meathead Movers,” says FHMC President and CEO Alan Iftiniuk.
The generous commitment from two local couples made this multimillion dollar project possible. Jim and Sandy Copeland, and Tom and Pam Copeland, long time San Luis Obispo residents, recognized business leaders, philanthropists and devoted supporters of FHMC, donated the entire building to the advancement of health care for Central Coast residents. Donations are still being sought to support the advanced technology and modern interiors in the Pavilion.
