Heading into its 25th year Leadership SLO continues to produce graduates that meet the increasing demands for thoughtful citizen participation and leadership in every segment of the community.
“SLO owes its outstanding quality of life not only to the natural environment but to our fellow citizens who actively engage in the cultural, philanthropic, business and governmental bodies that serve our community,” said Bob Stets, CFO and general counsel at Cannon Corporation and Leadership Class XX alum. “There is no better or personally rewarding preparation for these roles than the knowledge and interpersonal skills gained by graduates of Leadership SLO. The program enhances their lives and those they choose to serve going forward.”
The application period for Class XXV is open.
Leadership SLO is a 10 month program designed and annually updated with the goal of identifying and developing effective community leaders to work together in pursuit of a collective and evolving vision of the community.
The rigorous program begins with a three-day retreat in the Sierra foothills. The monthly classes immerse participants in the challenges, joys and innovations affecting our community in seven different areas: arts, education, media, health, county and city government, law enforcement and agriculture. Through a continuously adapting curriculum, hands-on homework, expert panels and lively presentations, class members hone their personal leadership style and work together with community members of diverse experiences and opinions.
Since 1991 the program has graduated more than 800 alumni who can be found throughout SLO County supporting the advancement of educational, cultural and economic interests as they pursue their passions and work toward the betterment of their community.
