Beginning today, December 18, a special holiday initiative is bringing joy to 24 local families in need. The collaboration between Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo and SLO City Church has culminated in the Hope for One campaign, a heartfelt effort to fulfill the Christmas wishes of children and their families who are part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentorship program.
Through the generosity of the SLO City Church community, these 24 families will receive much-needed support, including groceries, rent assistance and Christmas gifts. The selected families, all of whom have children involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, were chosen based on their need for support during the holiday season. The Hope for One campaign aims to provide both practical assistance and the gift of a memorable Christmas, helping families experience a season of joy. Heather Munich, executive ministry assistant gushed about this year’s success “We love the work of Bigs SLO — and the opportunity to partner with this incredible organization every Christmas is special. This year we are excited to bring nearly 100k in gifts, food, rent assistance and more to 24 deserving families. What a joy it is to see hope shared this Christmas season.” The Hope for One campaign exemplifies the spirit of giving and the power of community.
Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Stacy Salame, summed it up nicely, “As we enter the holiday season, this partnership between Bigs SLO and SLO City Church is truly special. It brings our community together in a meaningful way. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a compassionate group of people, and we look forward to making this season brighter for everyone involved.”
