Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and lifelong care of donkeys and mules, is proud to announce its first-ever “Hearts and Hooves” Fundraising Gala. The special event will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 4:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the organization’s beautiful 46-acre sanctuary, providing a unique opportunity for the community to support a vital local cause.

The “Hearts and Hooves” Gala is the sanctuary’s premier fundraising event of the year, with all proceeds directly benefiting the resident animals. Funds raised will provide essential resources, including feed, veterinary services and specialized hoof care for the rescued donkeys and mules who have found a lifetime haven at Rancho Burro. The evening promises to be a memorable experience, featuring a gourmet BBQ dinner, a silent and live auction with unique items and experiences and inspiring stories of the resilient animals who call the sanctuary home.

“We are thrilled to welcome the community to our first ‘Hearts and Hooves’ Gala,” said Jim and Carlen Eckford, founders of Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary. “This evening is not just about raising funds; it’s about sharing the incredible spirit of these animals and celebrating the compassion that makes our work possible. Every ticket purchased and every auction bid directly translates into a safe and healthy future for donkeys who have suffered from abuse, abandonment and neglect.”

The sanctuary provides rehabilitation and lifetime critical care for many donkeys and mules, including recent rescues Mabel, Smokey and May Day, who arrived in need of significant medical attention. The gala will play a crucial role in ensuring they, and all the residents, continue to receive the highest standard of care.
