The San Luis Obispo Parks & Recreation Department is thrilled to announce the return of the much-anticipated September Scramble Family Adventure Course. This year’s adventure-filled event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 30, at the Laguna Lake Golf Course. Drop-in hours will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (with the last runners on course at 2:30 p.m.), promising an action-packed day for families and youth.

The September Scramble is designed for youth ages 5 and up although adults are welcome to run the course with their children (adults will need to register for the event).

Participants can anticipate conquering over 20 challenging obstacles placed along a 0.75-mile course that feature a climbing wall, hay bale hurdles, mud pit, tunnels, net climbs, and balance beams. Each year the course is thoughtfully crafted to challenge youth’s imaginations and test their physical abilities.

Registration for the event is priced at $15.00 per child, with a maximum fee of $40.00 per family (up to 5 family members; prior approval required for larger groups). As a bonus, each participating child will receive a commemorative t-shirt to mark their epic day (register by Sept. 22 to guarantee a t-shirt).

Why the emphasis on September? September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, and the San Luis Obispo Parks & Recreation Department is fully committed to promoting healthy families, happy homes, and stronger communities. The September Scramble serves as an excellent opportunity for children to engage in active, outdoor play, fostering a culture of physical fitness and well-being.
