The San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra (SLO Winds) is excited to share about the fully booked, free children’s concerts they will be offering to 5th graders from the San Luis Obispo Coastal, Lucia Mar, and Atascadero Unified School Districts, this Friday, October 25th, at the Cuesta College CPAC.
This educational endeavor is supported by a $3,500 grant from Central Coast Funds for Children. Further contributions from the ELKS of SLO #322, Knights of Columbus, Coast Periodontics, Atascadero Rotary and Kiwanis of Atascadero make these concerts accessible, fostering an early appreciation for music and its educational benefits among local youth.
“These concerts are designed to inspire and educate our young students,” said Diane Heath, President of the SLO Winds Board of Directors. “We aim to make a lasting impact on these children, showcasing the beauty and joy of music at a pivotal time in their academic journey.”
Jenn Martin, Conductor of SLO Winds, emphasized, “Music education plays a crucial role in cognitive development, academic success, and personal growth. These concerts are more than performances; they are an investment in our community’s future.”
The SLO Wind Orchestra, celebrating its 25th year, continues to enrich the Central Coast’s cultural landscape through its performances and educational programs. Comprising 60 accomplished musicians, the orchestra performs a wide array of symphonic wind band music, dedicated to community engagement and musical education.
