The City of San Luis Obispo is excited to celebrate Arbor Day with the community to recognize the City being named a Tree City USA for its 40th year in a row. This year’s event will be held at French Park on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The celebration will include the display of art entries and announcement of winners from this year’s Arbor Day Art Contest, guest speakers, snacks and the plating of new trees. As an extra treat, they will be giving away one-gallon trees while supplies last.
To commemorate the City’s 40th year as a Tree City USA, 40 trees will be planted at French Park which were donated by Pacific Gas & Electric. The planting of 40 trees supports the City’s goal of sustaining, managing and enhancing the City’s community forest by planting 10,000 trees by 2035. This is just one of the ways the City is leading by example in climate action work.
