The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County announced today that its UndocuSupport Fund has been renamed One Community Fund: Fueling a Vibrant Immigrant Future. The change sharpens the Foundation’s focus on raising and distributing flexible, reliable funding to organizations serving immigrant communities across San Luis Obispo County.
The name change reflects an evolution in how the Foundation is showing up during a pivotal time. The focus is on community-led solutions, coordinated support and funding for organizations closest to the work. The Foundation’s Board of Directors approved the change following a recommendation from the UndocuSupport Advisory Committee and prior approval by the Grantmaking Committee.
The updated name is also intended to improve clarity for community members and partners, particularly among programs with similar names serving overlapping populations. It also clearly communicates that One Community Fund is a fund held at The Community Foundation rather than a stand-alone organization. The fund pools donations from individuals to support strategic grantmaking, convening, collaboration and shared learning among nonprofit organizations serving immigrant individuals and families throughout the county.
Immigrants make up nearly 10 percent of San Luis Obispo County’s population and play a vital role in the region’s economy, workforce and cultural life, according to The Fabric of SLO County: Understanding the Diversity and Contributions of Our Immigrant Community. The January 2025 report was authored by Joel Diringer of Diringer and Associates and funded by the Community Foundation and local partners.
“What began as a grassroots community effort to support immigrant families during the COVID pandemic has grown into a trusted, countywide fund,” said Joel Diringer, co-founder of the fund. “As part of the Community Foundation, One Community Fund ensures strong financial stewardship, brings together community organizations and local leaders, and works alongside immigrant communities to meet this next moment and the challenges ahead.”
As One Community Fund, the initiative is fully integrated within the Community Foundation’s philanthropic framework. This allows resources to move efficiently and sustainably in alignment with community-identified priorities. Through the fund, the Foundation is committed to predictable grant cycles, community-led funding decisions and continued collaboration among nonprofit partners, service providers and community leaders.
“This is about showing up in a meaningful way when it matters most,” said Christine Dawson, Chief Executive Officer of The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County. “One Community Fund strengthens our role as a connector. It brings people together, shares knowledge and resources, and ensures organizations serving immigrant communities have the flexible funding they need to respond, adapt and lead.”
As part of this renewed focus, The Community Foundation will launch a dedicated grant program in March to support local organizations working directly with immigrant individuals and families throughout San Luis Obispo County.

“The new name reflects an evolution in how the Foundation and the One Community Fund Advisory Committee will continue to show up with clarity, coordination, and a renewed commitment to deeper, more responsive community impact. The purpose, heart and grantmaking priorities of the fund remain unchanged,” said Quinn Brady, co-founder of the original UndocuSupport Fund.
