Fans of smart, unexpected, laugh-out-loud comedy have something to look forward to this spring. Acclaimed comedian Demetri Martin brings his inventive stand-up to San Luis Obispo on Saturday, March 28, 2026, for a one-night-only Rotary fundraiser benefiting local Rotary-supported programs. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo, with proceeds benefiting youth and families throughout the local and global communities.

Ticket prices are $52, $62, $77 and $97, and are available through the PAC box office and online at pacslo.org.

Known for his intelligent, inventive and highly original style of comedy, Demetri Martin seamlessly blends stand-up, visual humor, drawings and music. He is the creator and star of the Comedy Central series Important Things with Demetri Martin and has released three stand-up comedy albums and four hour-long comedy specials, including his most recent Netflix special, The Overthinker.

Beyond the stage, Martin has built an accomplished film career. He starred in Ang Lee’s critically acclaimed 2009 film Taking Woodstock and went on to write, direct and star in the feature film Dean, which won the Founder’s Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival for Best Narrative American Feature. His screen work spans a wide range of projects, including numerous film appearances and extensive animated voice-over performances.

Martin has earned international acclaim for his live performances, winning the prestigious Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his one-man show If I, as well as Australia’s Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Beyond stand-up, he is a bestselling author whose books This Is a Book and Point Your Face at This became New York Times bestsellers. His latest book, If It’s Not Funny It’s Art, showcases a collection of his original drawings.

“This event brings together world-class comedy and Rotary’s mission of service,” said Rotary de Tolosa President Mary Verdin. “Demetri Martin’s creativity and humor promise an unforgettable evening, all in support of meaningful work in our community.”
