“The “Chumash Heritage” part of our newest national marine sanctuary is an essential piece of what makes this sanctuary and the Central Coast special. Since time immemorial, the many diverse Chumash Peoples have been guardians of these lands and waters. This legacy continues today because local Native advocates work with others to strengthen Indigenous cultures, our local communities and to safeguard our Hutash, Mother Earth.”– Michael Khus-zarate, Coastal Band of the Chumash Nation and Northern Chumash Bear Clan
SLO EarthFest 2025 is made possible in part by our sponsor The Chumash Heritage National Marine Foundation and the dedication and collaboration of the EarthFest Planning Committee, a passionate group that has been working hard all year to bring this incredible event to life. The committee is made up of local organizations including the SLO Climate Coalition, EcoSLO, the Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club, Making SLO and Cal Poly College Corps, all united by a shared commitment to building a more sustainable, resilient community.
“The Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club is excited to partner with the SLO Climate Coalition and a myriad of local organizations, businesses and leaders to make this year’s SLO Earth Fest come to life. SLO Earth Fest is a testament to the Central Coast’s community collaboration. For all who love people and the planet -– we can’t wait to see you there!”– Gianna Patchen, Chapter Coordinator, Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club
