United Way of SLO County is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jane Pomeroy as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 17, 2024. Jane has long been deeply enmeshed in the community and is uniquely positioned to incubate, co-create and fund United Way’s field-defining initiatives related to early childhood education, family financial stability and community strengthening.
Trish Avery Caldwell, Board Chair, United Way of SLO County said “The United Way of SLO County Board members and staff are excited to have Jane Pomeroy taking the reins as CEO! Her abilities, track record and exceptional dedication to, and passion for, the people of SLO County is truly inspiring.”
Jane is presently a Senior Associate at Sheikh/Impact where she provides strategic fund development counsel and support to diverse Los Angeles County-based nonprofit agencies. Previously, on the Central Coast, she was the Executive Director of RISE. Jane then collaboratively facilitated the legal merger between two independent nonprofit entities: RISE and Stand Strong. This merged organization became Lumina Alliance where she was the Chief Communications Officer from 2021-2024.
In April 2024, she won a Shining Light: Legacy Award in recognition of contributions made to survivor care, volunteer service, prevention education, the Lumina Alliance mission and innovation within the movement to end sexual and intimate partner violence. Jane’s nonprofit leadership experience will greatly contribute to United Way’s efforts to foster structural change by addressing root causes.
Nick Drews, Director SLO County Health Agency and United Way Board Member said “Our County is fortunate to have someone of Jane’s caliber and non-profit experience arrive at this pivotal point in the growth and development of our United Way. With her stewardship we will be able to better serve and strengthen our community.”
“Born and raised on the Central Coast, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible spirit of this community and its commitment to uplifting one another together. I am both honored and energized to lead United Way of SLO County into its next chapter, and to work with our partners to collectively ensure everyone is afforded the opportunity to thrive.” – Jane Pomeroy. A SLO native, she lives in town with her husband Craig and two wild kiddos.
