Robinson, MikeThe prestigious IDEA International Personal Trainer of the Year Award has been presented to Mike Z. Robinson of San Luis Obispo, California. This honor – given at the IDEA Health & Fitness Awards Ceremony at the IDEA World Fitness Convention®, held in Los Angeles, California, July 15 – 19 recognizes an individual whose outstanding leadership inspires staff and influences both active and under active people to commit to a healthy lifestyle through successful, creative and diverse fitness programming.

The IDEA Health & Fitness Awards are considered to be the fitness industry’s highest form of recognition and have been presented annually since 1985 with the Personal Trainer of the Year award being the highest honor in the field.

“My personal mission,” Robinson said, “is to raise the bar in a saturated field of fitness professionals. The higher the bar, the less full the industry will be with unqualified personal trainers. Then clients will be able to get reputable assistance and reach fitness success like never before!”

Mike raises the bar for his clients by never repeating a workout.

“My clients love the diversity that I bring them in our workouts,” said Robinson, “I aim to spark their interest, set goals and get quick results, which help them catch the ‘fitness bug’ and want to do all of the right things the rest of the week when I’m not with them.”

Robinson has helped 13 clients lose more than 100 pounds each in the last 4 years.

Robinson founded MZR Fitness in 2009 in San Luis Obispo, California and currently trains clients 30-35 hours a week while also managing six staff members. He is also the founder of Mike Z. Robinson Enterprises, which features mentorship and personal trainer development programs, gym design, speaking and consulting. He recently completed his first e-book, “Fitness Up, Everything Up.” Mike is also a big believer in supporting his local community.

Robinson and the staff of MZR Fitness sponsor many events in San Luis Obispo. He donates his time & expertise at many local events throughout the county. MZR Fitness also donates personal training packages at just about every silent auction that approaches them.

“I also serve on the Women’s Shelter Board of Directors and volunteer my time and speak to local organizations about health and fitness. I thrive on giving back to the community since not everyone has the resources to come see my staff or me,” said Robinson.

As the 2015 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, Robinson will serve as an IDEA spokesperson on issues pertaining to personal fitness training. He will also be profiled in the August 2015 IDEA Fitness Journal.
