nena new life paintingIn April of this year, Nena Salto was suffering from fatigue and body aches for no apparent reason. She went to the doctor who was unable to identify the cause of her illness and predicted her symptoms would eventually go away.

In July, Nena was admitted to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo where numerous tests were conducted with no conclusive answers.

Nena was given Cancer medication because her symptoms were killing her white blood cells. She was then placed in a medically induced coma and flown to UCLA Medical Center for more tests and evaluation.  Doctors tried unsuccessfully to bring her out of the coma, only to have her heart rate spike.

On Friday, August 18th, Nena passed away. Nena Salto is a wife and mother. Her husband Juan has stayed by her side during this long and excruciating unknown illness. They are parents to a two-year-old girl named Serenity who has been in the care of Juan and aunts and uncles since Nena’s hospitalization.
