e-insiderThe Octagon Barn is $250,000 closer to its goal. The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County recently received a $250,000 gift from the Harold J. Miossi Trust to put toward the completion of the project that is set to open in early 2017. The local landmark is in the middle of a restoration and will serve as a community gathering space for concerts, seminars, live performances, weddings and more. The facility will also serve as the trailhead for the Bob Jones City-to-Sea Trail. To date the Land Conservancy has raised more than $4.7 million thanks to gifts from SLO County and the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments along with the City of San Luis Obispo, business contributions, private donations, a state grant and a gift from the SLO Bike Club. A total of $5.3 million is needed to complete the renovations. The Land Conservancy hopes to raise the final $600,000 by June 2016.
