Pacific Eye, the complete eye care center of the Central Coast, welcomes Dr. Mark G. Mitchell, Optometrist to the practice. Dr. Mitchell is a highly experienced optometrist who has taught and practiced throughout California. His professional interests include general eye care, eyeglass and contact lens correction, eye disease diagnosis and treatment, and clinical research.

“I have a passion for teaching – whether teaching optometry students at UC Berkeley, or when teaching my patients in the exam room about their eye condition,” says Dr. Mitchell. “I believe it’s important for my patients to understand what’s going on with their eyes and their health so that we can collaborate to make the best choices for a lifetime of excellent vision.

Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry and is the former Chief of Eye Disease Service at Berkeley. He taught at Berkeley’s School of Optometry for over 10 years, overseeing the clinical education of over 65 students per year. Prior to joining Pacific Eye he operated his own practice for many years north of Lake Tahoe.

“We are excited to bring Dr. Mitchell on board expanding the optometry services we offer at Pacific Eye,” says Dr. Ahmad Amir, MD., Managing Partner at Pacific Eye. “Dr. Mitchell offers a wealth of experience seeing patients and contributing to clinical research that is advancing the field of optometry.”

At the Pacific Eye offices, Dr. Mitchell performs vision exams, glasses and contact lens prescriptions and other related optometry services. His goal is not only to ensure that patients have high-quality vision, but also detecting early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, corneal ulcers, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.

“I look forward to meeting new patients in the Central Coast community,” adds Dr. Mitchell. “Pacific Eye is a leading eye care practice and their commitment to outstanding eye care is right in line with my focus as an optometry practitioner and researcher.”
