United Way of San Luis Obispo County was thrilled to find out recently that employees at Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) Diablo Canyon Power Plant have once again generously donated their own funds to the community support organization. Together, with PG&E matching funds, the total donation in 2015 to the local chapter of the United Way will exceed $26,000.

On August 12, PG&E’s Diablo Canyon Power Plant Site Vice President, Jim Welsch, presented the check to the United Way of San Luis Obispo County’s Board of Directors. The check reflects a commitment from the employees who donate their personal funds as well as their time and efforts in volunteerism to the organization.

“At PG&E, we are strongly committed to giving back to the communities that we live in and serve. PG&E is honored to support the United Way of San Luis Obispo County and their important mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. I am especially proud of all of our employees at Diablo Canyon Power Plant for contributing their own funds to this organization. Together, we are building a better California,” said Welsch.

“At United Way of San Luis Obispo County, these funds will be put to great use. The funds will be used to support projects and programs like Imagination Library, Money Talks, and Youth Board. We are so proud to partner with PG&E and their employees,” said Rick London, CEO, United Way of San Luis Obispo County.

PG&E company and employee funds come to local community organizations through the company’s Campaign for the Community, an annual employee and retiree giving campaign that raises money for qualifying 501c3 organizations and eligible schools. Through Campaign for the Community, local employees will give more than $575,000 to local San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara non-profits in 2015.
