A long-time plan to renovate The Creamery may soon come to fruition. Owners of the historic marketplace are planning a complete renovation to the 20,000-square-foot property. They are in the preliminary stages of a process which will preserve and upgrade the current buildings at 470 Higuera St. Plans include new mixed-use buildings with a small number of residential units. None of the current tenants will be displaced. The additions will rearrange the current parking lots, eliminating approximately 40 parking spaces and adding approximately 20 spaces attached to one of the new mixed-use buildings. The net loss of parking spaces will be offset by in-lieu fees and the construction of the Palm/Nipomo parking structure which moved forward this past Tuesday with a unanimous city council vote.
