ymcaThe San Luis Obispo County YMCA is pleased to announce that Keola Taniguchi has been hired as the new Chief Operations Officer. Taniguchi has a deep and longtime commitment to the mission of the YMCA, serving as a Y professional for more than 20 years. He currently serves as the Branch Executive Director for the Mililani/West Oahu YMCA in Hawaii. He has a B.S. in Human Services from The University of Phoenix, Hawaii Campus.

Taniguchi first started his Y career as a youth leader and Director in after schools, camps and aquatics with Nu’uanu YMCA in Honolulu. He later served as the Director of Membership and Marketing at the Leeward Y. Most recently, he has served as the Executive Director of the Mililani/Waipahu YMCA on Oahu.

The COO position provides operational and fiscal oversight of the SLO County Y. This includes overseeing $3.5 million in annual revenues, serving more than 5,000 families county-wide and engaging with more than 250 staff and volunteers.

“This is an important an exciting chapter for our Y. There is a growing need and opportunities for the youth and healthy living programs that our Y provides for families across the county. Taniguchi will be a key ingredient to our growth and continued success,” said Monica Grant, CEO.
