The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center is hosting a grant workshop for applicants to the second annual Swanson PAC Community Access Fund (Swanson Fund). The workshop will be held in the Founders Room at the PAC on February 22nd at 3 pm. All performance groups planning to apply for the grant are encouraged to send at least one representative to the complimentary workshop. The workshop will focus on key goals and objectives for applicants and will also allow the panel to solicit feedback from last year’s recipients.

Eligibility requires that groups have a non-profit 501c3 status and a performance date scheduled at the PAC during the 2017-18 season. “We are so pleased to be able to offer this grant opportunity for the second year in a row. Named for Clifton Swanson, this fund seeks to celebrate the unique opportunity of performing in a world class hall for all of the resident companies in the community,” stated Libbie Agran, Honorary Trustee of the Foundation. “We hope that we can use this time together to exchange ideas and opportunities as well as help these groups to identify matching grants when possible.”

The workshop will provide applicants with more information about the fund, as well as an overview by key PAC staff about the specifics of performing in the hall. Foundation representatives will go over requested grant information, and provide additional resources for both grant writing and communications.

The Swanson Fund provides additional program funding to local community performing arts groups to perform at Harman Hall in the upcoming season. Last year, through the generosity of Foundation donors, the inaugural Swanson Fund grants were awarded to 9 local performing arts groups performing in the 2016-17 season and totaled nearly $30,000.

Applications for this year’s Swanson Fund are available now online at http://fpacslo.org/swanson-fund/, or by contacting Justin McMillan, [email protected] or (805) 541-5401. Applications are due by 5 pm April 3. Applicants for the 2017-18 Swanson Fund grants need to have their date for presenting at the PAC reserved for next year to qualify, among other financial qualifications. Awards will be announced after May 1.

In addition to the Swanson Fund, all community arts groups performing at the PAC receive a 75% rental discount from the Foundation and its partners, Cal Poly and the City of San Luis Obispo. Nearly 30 community groups took the stage at the PAC last year, comprising 140 shows.
