talley vineyardsTalley Vineyards is dedicated to supporting the local community and the upcoming lunch on October 25th is just one of several philanthropic efforts by the Talley Family that occur throughout the year. According to Brian Talley, “a core tenant of our mission at Talley Vineyards is to do our best for our people, our land and our community. Serving lunch to those who dedicate their time and talent to serve our community aligns perfectly with our mission and makes us feel good.”

At the lunch, Talley Vineyards will honor the work of the SLO Noor Foundation, a group that provides free healthcare to the uninsured in San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara Counties. A $16,000 check will be presented to the Foundation from the Fund for Vineyard and Farm Workers, a permanent endowment held at the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County. The Fund was established in 2004 by Johnine and Brian Talley to benefit the farm worker community of San Luis Obispo County. The lunch tradition began last fall when Talley Vineyards served lunch to volunteers from Glean SLO and the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.

The key fundraising initiatives for the Fund for Vineyard and Farm Workers are the annual release of Mano Tinta, a charity wine that supports the Fund as well as Sip and Pick, which highlights Talley Farms’ pumpkin patch and gives the community an opportunity to bring home unique pumpkins and gourds.

The other is the Marianne Talley Memorial Scholarship Foundation which funds scholarships for Arroyo Grande High School graduates. Since its inception in 1993, the Marianne Talley Foundation has awarded over $300,000 to 55 young men and women. The key events that support the Marianne Talley Foundation are the Pinot/Cioppino Dinner, hosted by the Talley family every February in the winery’s barrel room and the Marianne Talley Fun Run, a family friendly event held the first Sunday in June through the vineyards and fields that surround Talley Vineyards.
