Tourism Exchange to recap state of the tourism industry in SLO County.
In recognition of National Travel & Tourism Week (May 1-7), Visit San Luis Obispo County will hold their annual San Luis Obispo County Tourism Exchange at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo on Friday, May 6, 2016. Tourism partners, local dignitaries and elected officials from across the county will be present to celebrate the impact of the new countywide Tourism Marketing District in its first year, and Visit San Luis Obispo County will share initiatives and strategies that will move the region forward in a united effort during year two.
National Travel & Tourism Week is in its 33rd year and is the official salute to tourism in America. Communities nationwide will unite to showcase the impact of travel with special events and activities. The San Luis Obispo County Tourism Exchange 2016 will offer guests the opportunity to hear the latest industry intelligence and trends from guest speakers, learn from tourism industry experts and network and share strategies with their peers.
Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to hear presentations from keynote speaker Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California, Chuck Davison, president and CEO of Visit San Luis Obispo County, Pat Merrill, partner at Merrill Research, and Brandon Feighner director of CBRE Hotels, Valuation and Advisory Services.
Beteta will provide an update on the State of Tourism in California, major statewide initiatives impacting areas like San Luis Obispo County and the difference Visit California is making with the passage of Dream Big. Beteta is joining San Luis Obispo County for the second year during National Travel & Tourism Week. She is regarded as one of the top tourism industry professionals in the nation and Visit San Luis Obispo County is honored to host her.
Davison will showcase achievements and major initiatives from the Tourism Marketing District’s first year in an overview of the state of the County’s tourism industry. Merrill Research will present the results of Visit San Luis Obispo County’s groundbreaking feeder market awareness study. Feighner will provide an important look into the San Luis Obispo County lodging community with a forecast through 2017 that includes 600+ rooms coming online in the next few years.
