Veteran meteorologist Jim Castillo will join KSBY’s award-winning evening newscasts, providing trusted, on-air weather coverage that keeps people in our Central Coast Communities connected and informed.

Castillo brings more than 30 years of experience to the KSBY weather team, most recently as a meteorologist at KSDK in St. Louis. Castillo’s career included stops in Seattle, Philadelphia, and New York. Prior to St. Louis, Castillo worked for several years at KTLA in Los Angeles where he served as a meteorologist and weather reporter and had the opportunity to cover severe weather conditions and multiple breaking news events.

Castillo is a certified storm chaser and licensed pilot who has received the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award, the RTNA Golden Mic Award, and dozens of Emmy Award nominations and wins for his work. He received his bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.
