This summer, Opera San Luis Obispo will produce a variety of exciting performing arts events throughout our county for children, families, and arts lovers of all ages.
In its Nineteenth consecutive season, Opera SLO’s Children’s Summer Opera Camp returns. This program offers a two-week fun and educational day camp for children ages eight to sicteen. Campers interact with a professional team of musician educators in a structured and positive environment focused on learning correct vocal technique, warm-up stretches and breathing exercises, drama and stage movement, ear-training and musicianship. Campers will perform solo, ensemble, multiple-part singing and learn how to create props, costumes, and sets.
This year Opera Camp culminates in a darling abridged performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado: Friday, July 28 at 7 p. m. No experience is required, just a willingness to learn about performing arts.
Opera Camp is held July 17 through 28, 2017, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 1515 Fredericks Street in San Luis Obispo: $400 for the first family member and $375 for additional family members.
